Sweetgrass Front Steps Project
Published in The Bayou Buzz Richmond, Texas
We wanted to do something positive with our time during the quarantine and give back to our community and neighbors in Sweetgrass. We decided to take complimentary photos using social distancing on your front steps of your home. We asked for donations to Fort Bend Senior Meals on Wheels. Roger & I were so excited to present to them a check over $900 to Meals on Wheels. There were close to 30 Families participated. Our worlds have been turned upside down, and while we are separated, it is more important than ever that we stay connected during this time. The purpose of The Sweetgrass Front Steps Project was to bring us together while we’re isolated, to help us feel connected while we can’t see each other at the Lakehouse exercising or at the many clubs, playing cards and games and in the grocery store, or at our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Plus, this has been a chapter in our lives that deserves to be documented. It is going to impact and change us in ways we do not yet understand. But what if we look back on this time as a few months of amazing family bonding, when we all read more books, played more board games, and watched more movies together? Everyone was able to take a family photo to remember this. Then shared it, to connect with our neighbors and broader community. We all missed our friends and extended family, but we learned we will get through this together. We had some lots of fun with this! This was not a typical coordinated attire and posed photo session… It was to be fun and lighthearted. Some residents showed off their pajamas and slippers. Everyone was highly creative and included toilet paper, wine, pets, signs, and things that have helped them pass the time during these past few months. Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels (FBS) is committed to helping seniors remain independent by enhancing their quality of life through services and resources. They provide nutritious meals and support services to seniors, 60 years of age and over, regardless of income, in Fort Bend and Waller counties. The best part of this was a chance for us to meet some new neighbors along with enough time for us to laugh, chat from a safe social distance. Here are a few photos of residents. We have more photos of residents on our website www.YourBestShot-Photography.com. Call us if you are interested in having any portraits taken @713-545-0384.
